Calamba councilman’s car strafed for the 2nd time
The vehicle of a barangay councilor parked near a funeral parlor that he owns was strafed by an unidentified man early morning Thursday.
The gunman also left a note accusing the victim, Councilor Richard Buscaino, of using drugs.
Buscaino's vehicle, an Isuzu Galloper with plate number LFM453, parked near San Fernando Funeral Homes was shot seven times on the windshield of the driver's side portion.
This is the second time that Buscaino's vehicles were strafed. Last March 24, two unidentified men on a motorcycle fired shots at the two hearses parked near the funeral parlor located on Katipunan Street, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
Buscaino denied the allegations written on the note and said that this is only a diversion tactic of the perpetrator.
“Hindi ito drugrelated. Malayong-malayo ito sa reason. This is personal grudge and dinidivert lang yung issue,” Buscaino said in a phone interview with THE FREEMAN.
Initial police investigation revealed that an unidentified man wearing a black jacket disembarked from the motorcycle and fired seven times at the victim's vehicle. Police recovered seven empty shells of caliber .45 bullets in the crime scene.
Buscaino was inside a bar near the area when the shooting happened.
Chief Inspector Keith Andaya of Police Station 6 eyes politics as the reason behind the attack.
“Based sa gisulti sa victim, politics jud ni kay wa may makita nga laing hinungdan ang biktima pero atoang iconsider tanan possibilities.” said Chief Andaya.
Buscaino also revealed that prior to the second attack, he received threats via phone messages.
After the recent strafing, he again received threats from two unknown numbers.
Buscaino is considering of asking for special protection from the Cebu City Police Office if the threats continue.
“Wala naman akong kasalanan and for safety lang because I consider this serious threats” said Buscaino.
Andaya said that he beef up police visibility in the area.
