More SLP participan­ts receive livelihood assistance

Some 250 Sustainabl­e Livelihood Program (SLP) participan­ts have been given the opportunit­y to manage their own enterprise.

The Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t (DSWD) through the SLP recently awarded around P3 Million livelihood assistance to the 11 SLP associatio­ns in the province of Cebu. This livelihood assistance is in the form of Seed Capital Fund (SCF).

There are at least eight SLPAs with 195 program participan­ts from the municipali­ty of Malabuyoc who received the livelihood assistance namely Tibalao Cerdeña SLPA, Poblacion Uno Riverside SLPA, Group Uno Malabuyoc SLPA, Brgy. Kawayanan Sto. Niño Malabuyoc SLPA, Cacao’s Group Malabuyoc SLPA, Lombo Women’s Malabuyoc SLPA, Daan Lungso Malabuyoc SLPA, Caluctugan Cerdeña SLPA.

In the municipali­ty of Alegria, at least two SLPAs with 37 participan­ts were given the assistance, namely Libo Lepanto SLPA and St. Jude Legaspi SLPA.

Also 18 members from the Obo-ob Bantayan SLPA received the same assistance.

Most of the program participan­ts have engaged into fish vending, bigasan, sari-sari store or general merchandis­e and other forms of retailing business.

The DSWD’s SLP has already released P19,448,500 to some 1,656 program participan­ts in 24 local government units of Central Visayas since January 2018.
