Four burglars carted away one sack of rice, five kilos of fish, a large pot, and three A.M. radios from Toledo City District Hospital in midwest Cebu Wednesday dawn.

Suspects— Donald Sabroso, 19, Lynjun Salazar, 21, both residents of Barangay Poblacion, Toledo—were arrested by the city police following a hot pursuit operation.

But only one radio, one-fourth sack of rice, and the pot were recovered from the suspects, said Senior Police Officer 1 Roxam Enerio of Toledo Police.

Enerio said the suspects might be starving based on the items they stole.

Police, however, failed to arrest other intruders identified as brothers Christian Emer John and Elvin Canillo, both of legal age. The Canillo brothers are reportedly notorious robbers in the city.

Enerio said the burglars broke into the hospital’s kitchen, which is situated at the back portion of the medical facility, by forcibly breaking its sliding doors using a hard object.

According to Enerio, the on-duty security guard immediately sensed the presence of the suspects and tried to arrest them, but failed. The suspects scampered upon seeing the security guard.

Robbery charges will be filed against the suspects, said Enerio.—
