DeLa Pisa scores treble, CV stays at fourth overall

Central Visayas stayed at fourth place

going into the penultimat­e day of

the 61st Palarong Pambansa here at the

Heritage Province.

In the unofficial medal tally, Central Visayas currently stands with 21 golds, 14 silvers and 17 bronzes, behind perennial champ National Capital Region (42-34-20), Western Visayas (29-23-35) and Calabarzon (22-23-39).

Dela Pisa clinched the secondary rhythmic golds via the rope, hoop and ball event. The 15-year-old cancer survivor Dela Pisa also had a golden finish in the individual all-around last Wednesday.

She also added a silver medal in the club event.

Over at San Ildefonso, Amistoso of Dumaguete City registered her third gold medal in archery via the single FITA with 1,312 points. She broke the old record of Cordillera Region’s top archer Chairmaine Villamor of 1,301.

Amistoso also got a bronze medal in the 60m class along with teammate Carson Francis Hastie in the boys action.

Meanwhile, CV’s sepak takraw girls squad pulled off a surprise after claiming the gold with a thrilling 22-20 over NCR.

The combined forces of Sacred Heart SchoolAten­eo de Cebu and St. Theresa’s College also gave CV a gold medal in futsal with a 10-2 win over NCR.

Maria Crystal Sapio, for her part, prevented Central Visayas with a gold medal shutout after winning the gold in arnis. Her teammates Maria Alcoseba got the silver, while Nino Alexes Noval and Quint Daing settled for bronze medals.

Cheyenah Dela Fuente, Lee Navales and Aidene Laxa, for their part, won the silver medal in the secondary girls poomsae event, while Mayn Coran and Warren Jan Rama contribute­d with one silver apiece in the kyorugi.

In athletics, Riza Vallente and Nino Colis snared a bronze medal each in the 400m dash and 110m hurdles with a time of 58.88 seconds and 18.37 seconds, respective­ly.
