Ex-cop nabbed for disturbance
A former police officer was arrested after he allegedly went berserk and attacked two persons, including a village watchman, inside the basketball court of Barangay Looc, San Remigio, Cebu the other night.
The police identified the suspect as Felixzarte Cabataña, 39, a resident of Barangay Looc.
Police Officer 2 Jade Carabuena, investigator of the case, said the suspect, who was a former PO1 before he went AWOL in PNP service, was very drunk when he entered the basketball court where a disco was held.
“Pagsulod niya kay nag-wild man hinuon sa sulod maong gipahunong sa fiesta committee ang disco,” said Carabuena.
The suspect allegedly got mad after the fiesta committee head Mark Louie Pelayo, 23, ordered to momentarily stop the event. The ex-policeman reportedly punched the Pelayo.
The on-duty village watchman, Melvin Lauron, 40, who witnessed the incident, immediately tried to pacify the suspect but he, too, was also attacked.
The residents immediately called the San Remigio Police Station to ask for assistance that led to the arrest of Cabataña.
Carabuena said that the suspect is currently working as job order employee under the Emergency Medical Services of the municipality.
The investigator, however, clarified that the suspect has no police records for any illegal activities in their area.
“Hubog lang gyud ni siya. Wala na kahibawo sa iyang mga gipangbuhat,” said Carabuena.
Cases for multiple physical injuries, direct assault, and alarm and scandal were filed against the suspect.
