Gorilla osbtacle race ready to roar

-

The Gorilla Boot Camp's first obstacle course challenge is literally ready to roar on May 5 as a specially designed race course in Latasan, Barangay Labogon, Mandaue City.

"We are 90 percent ready. So far, so good as far as our preparations is concerned for the race on May 5,” said race organizer Antonette Veloso, adding that have already put up the needed equipment for the obstacle course.

What they are working on right now are the surprise obstacles for the race.

“The equipment needed for the obstacle courses are complete already but our surprise obstacles are still in the making. It is not easy though kay these are heavy obstacles, it needs heavy equipment and around 15 people to move or transfer an obstacle. We have to reshuffle everything for the race day but very excited at the same time because this is going to be the first in Cebu, a local race for Cebuanos which is something new and extreme,” said Veloso.

The whole course will have various obstacles like the slippery wall, rope climb, tire flip, tire drag and pull hurdles, monkey bars, horizontal wall traverse, tire field, barbed wire crawl, water jug carry, tire rall and sand bag carry and more.

Considered as the first outdoor obstacle camp in the Visayas, the Gorilla Boot Camp organizes the race to test the endurance of participants. About a hundred participants have already registered for the race, which features the the elite men, elite women, and open categories.

Veloso added that their once a week training session in the Gorilla Boot Camp gained positive feedback from various fitness buffs and groups.

The registration is still open until April 30. Entry fee is pegged at P1, 500 inclusive of race bib, finisher’s shirt and medal, drawstring bag, towel and refreshments. Entry forms are available at Albur's, Veranda, Glutapeel in Parkmall and Robinsons Cybergate. One may also register online at www.race.ph/ gorillabootcamp.—
