Bogo snaps Gov’s Cup jinx

Team Tuburan slammed Asturias, 97-75, for its third straight win in the North Division Bracket 3 of the 2nd Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities and Municipali­ties Under-21 Developmen­tal Basketball Tournament last Saturday night at the Tuburan Sports Complex.

Tuburan trailed by a hairline at halftime, 39-38, but dropped 31-16 bomb in the third period to change the momentum of the match in their favor, 69-57.

Tuburan grew even hotter in the final stretch, whipping Asturias, 27-18, to come up with a 22-point blowout.

Miek Parilla and Steven Fritz Yuson scored 15 points each for Tuburan.

In the other game, Bogo City snapped out of its two-game slide at the expense of Tabogon, 86-67.

Behind the leadership of UV Baby Lancers All-Star guard Jim Paul Amistoso Bogo launched a searing 21-13 run to mount a 63-48 lead entering the final period.

Amistoso capped his game-long brilliance with six points as Bogo created a 19-point margin for its first win in three games.

Johndel Balazuela contribute­d 18 points and Reeven John Abao added 17 points for Bogo City.

Over at the Madridejos Cultural Center in Bantayan Island, Medellin frustrated the host Madridejos, 100-78.

In other games, Bantayan beat San Remigio, 102-71, while Daanbantay­an logged its first ever win after drubbing Santa Fe, 101-89.

In Samboan, Badian defeated Santander 79-75, Ginatilan overcame Oslob, 82-80, while Samboan edged Alegria, 76-66.

At the Aloguinsan municipal gym, Dumanjug had a rousing debut after trouncing Moalboal, 100-76, while Aloguinsan thrashed Alcantara by 33 points.—
