Junjun Osmeña is ‘richest’ Cebu City official

With a net worth of P39.18 million as of December last year, Councilor Renato “Junjun” Osmeña Jr. is the richest among Cebu City elected officials.

Based on the Statement of Assets, Liabilitie­s and Net worth (SALN), his assets include pieces of jewelry and other personal belongings worth P12. 5 million, cars worth P6.4 million, P5 million worth of shares in Portline Transport Services, P3 million worth of shares in JB Armor Wholesale Corp., a residentia­l house worth P2 million, a residentia­l lot in Barangay Guadalupe worth P2 million and P3.8 million cash.

He declared P3.2 million in liabilitie­s.

Osmeña is a new member of the City Council after he was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte last December 7, 2017 to replace Nendell Hanz Abella who resigned after he was named as a commission­er in the 7th Division of the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC).

Councilor Mary Ann delos Santos who was the richest official in 2016 ranked second as of December 2017.

She declared a total net worth of P 15 million and she has no liabilitie­s.

Among her assets are P5.1 million residentia­l lot in Barangay Bacayan, P3.3 million cash in bank, vehicles worth P3.4 million, pieces of jewelry worth P1.2 million, watches worth P1.2 million and P500,000 worth of road and mountain bicycles.

Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella has declared a net worth of P13 million with P1.1 million liabilitie­s.

His assets include residentia­l lot in Barangay Bacayan worth P3.4 million, condominiu­m unit in Makati City worth P900, 000, car worth P760,000, residentia­l lot in Lapu-Lapu City worth P350,000, residentia­l lot in Tubigon, Bohol worth P350, 000, pieces of jewelry, books and appliances worth P320, 000 and P350,000 cash.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña and his wife, Margarita, have a combined net worth of P10.7 million with a P2 million car loan as their liability.

They did not declare real properties in the SALN.

Their personal and other properties include P2.3 million cash on hand and in banks, car and accessorie­s worth P9 million, P694,000 investment­s, pieces of jewelry worth P350,600 and appliances, furniture and fixtures worth P320,000.

Among the Cebu City officials, Councilor Joel Garganera is the “poorest” with a total net worth of P830,000.

Last year, he was also among the councilors who are not millionair­es.

Councilor Sisinio Andales is worth P8.6 million while Councilor Pastor Alcover declared a net worth of P5.9 million.

Councilor Eugenio Gabuya Jr. is worth P5.1 million and $4,000.60.

Councilor Alvin Arcilla declared a net worth of P5.3 million, Councilor Augustus Young, P5 million; Councilor Jerry Guardo, P5 million; Councilor Joy Pesquera, P4.9 million; Councilor Jose Daluz III, P3.4 million; Councilor Raymond Garcia, P1.3 million and Councilor Eduardo Rama, P1.1 million.

Out of 16 city councilors, The FREEMAN has obtained copies of SALNs of the 14 legislator­s.

The SALNs of councilors David Tumulak and ex-officio member Phillip Zafra were reportedly submitted directly to the Office of the Ombudsman.
