Tomas brings home pledges of donation from Yeosu City

-

The recent visit of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña to Yeosu City in South Korea did not only strengthen the relationship of the two sister cities but will also benefit the residents of the city in terms of donations.

Former councilor Alvin Dizon, chairman of the Cebu City Sister Cities Commission, said the mayor was able to get pledges of donation from the officials of Yeosu City. Dizon, who was with Osmeña during the trip, said they met with Yeosu City Mayor JuCheolhyeon.

Osmeña and Dizon were invited to South Korea at no expense from the city government because it was sponsored by Yeosu City.

Dizon said they attended the Turtle Ship Festival. He said Osmeña invited the Korean officials to visit Cebu City in the next Sinulog as part of the two cities' cultural exchange program.

According to Dizon, they also visited YeosuJeil Hospital where they got pledges of donations of medical equipment and supplies.

"Concretely, we visited YeosuJeil Hospital to explore health care cooperation through donation of medical equipment and supplies. The donation will go a long way to raising the standard of health care for our Cebuano patients. We will be closely working with Yeosu Global Charity Association for this healthcare project. For now, we cannot quantify yet since our counterparts in Yeosu City will first identify the available medical equipment and supplies to be donated to Cebu," Dizon told The FREEMAN.

He, however, could not determine yet the types and worth of medical equipment and supplies to be donated.

"Our counterparts in Yeosu City will first identify the available medical equipment and supplies to be donated to Cebu," he said. —
