“I'm so glad nga limpyo ang atoang female's dormitory,” Tumulak told The FREEMAN.

Yesterday's greyhound was the second to be held at the female dormitory. The first one was in January.

Tumulak said the surprise inspections are part of measures to ensure safety of inmates, their visiting family members, as well as jail workers.

Meanwhile, the female inmates and jail guards underwent a drug test yesterday as requested by Jail Chief Inspector Elsie Alcomendras.

“The conduct of the random drug test was requested by Jail Chief Inspector Alcomendras in line with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology's drive to have drug-free jail facilities,” said Garry Lao, chief of the Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention, in a post to his social media account.

Some 118 female inmates and 24 jail personnel were tested. Three jail workers were reportedly on leave.

The results of the test will be released possibly today.

Meanwhile, almost P300,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in four separate police operations in Barangays Ermita, Kinasang-an, Sambag 2, and Basak San Nicolas in Cebu City recently.

In Barangay Ermita, operatives arrested Kevin Dominguez, 32, resident of the place, for alleged possession of two medium packs of suspected shabu weighing 10 grams and valued P118,000.

Authorities also recovered about P94,400 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Kinasang-an late morning Tuesday.

Police Officers arrested Romualdo “Kuyang” Cornejo, 55, and Aljun Infisto, 21, while they were reportedly having a drug session in the same area where they were arrested.

Police Officer 3 Simon Soco, desk officer of Pardo Police Station, said a concerned citizen called the station at about 5 a.m. on Tuesday to report the drug session.

NUBAIN

In a separate development, the Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor has recommended no bail against a 46-year-old man who allegedly sold nubain, which is classified as a dangerous drug as per Drug Board Resolution No. 1 Series of 2010.

Finding probable cause, Prosecutor III Simaco Labata held Sunny Nebrida, a resident of Jakosalem Street, Barangay Kamagayan, Cebu City, for trial.

Aside from selling nubain, Nebrida was also charged for illegal possession of the same drugs. His bail bond was set at P200,000.

Senior Police Officer 3 Jeniel Nebria and her colleagues alleged that they received a report that a certain Pare was selling dangerous drugs for injection along D. Jakosalem Street, Barangay Kamagayan last March 31.

Acting on the report, they conducted a buy-bust operation, using P200 as buy-bust money.

Together with the informant, Police Officer 2 Christopher Mariot transacted with the accused.

Upon consummation, Parian policemen then arrested Nebrida.
