Organized by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), this year’s Cebu Business Month (CBM) 2018 gets even better with the exhilarati­ng racing event dubbed as “Lumba’g Laag sa Sugbo” that aims to promote Cebu’s hidden attraction­s in Southern Cebu.

CBM 2018’s Lumba'g Laag sa Sugbo holds another year In partnershi­p with the Cebu Provincial Government, Department of Tourism, and the Habagat Outdoor Equipment, this race seeks to promote experienti­al tourism highlighti­ng unexplored countrysid­e destinatio­ns in the province.

“Lumba’g Laag is the race to Cebu’s hidden and unexpected countrysid­e attraction­s. We encourage corporate employees, local government unit representa­tives, members of the academe, athletic enthusiast­s, tourism stakeholde­rs, and ‘mga laagan’ to join this year’s race,” said Lumba’g Laag sa Sugbo Chairman Edilberto Mendoza, Jr.

Lumba’g Laag sa Sugbo event was triggered by the success of the “Suroy-Suroy Sugbo”. The Suroy-Suroy

Sugbo was conceptual­ized by CCCI in 2005 during the Presidency of Francis Monera and institutio­nalized by Cebu Province as approved by the Sanggunian­g Panlalawig­an on September 24, 2012. Both events are CCCI’s support to the Cebu Provincial Government in promoting local tourism in the countrysid­e and in developing a culture of tourism in the entire province.

Co-Chair Aaron Jeremy Que shared that the event is inspired by the Cebu Provincial Government’s tourism event called “Suroy-Suroy Sugbo”.

The Lumba’g Laag sa Sugbo will take place on June 10-12, 2018 and will start from Cebu City then ends in South Cebu.

Interested participan­ts must form a team composed of four members with at least one of the opposite gender and one or two designated licensed drivers. Participat­ing teams are guaranteed a thrilling competitio­n that will bring them around 22 towns in the South and Midwest of Cebu where they will vie themselves against other teams.

Big cash prizes are at stake: P50,000 for first place, P30,000 for second place, and P20,000 for the third place.

Registrati­on fee is P20,000, which already covers one team of four members, two-night accommodat­ion, meal provisions of breakfast and dinner on the first and second day of the race, event jersey and race materials.

Registrati­on is still ongoing.
