Consolacio­n scores 5-0 sweep, joined by Mandaue in quarters

Reigning North Division champions Consolacio­n Sarok Weavers eviscerate­d Danao City, 100-51, to complete a five-game eliminatio­n round sweep in the 2nd Cebu Governor's Cup 2018 Inter-Cities and Municipali­ties Under-21 Developmen­tal Basketball Tournament at the Consolacio­n Sports Complex last Monday evening.

The top seed Sarok Weavers of coach Jun Pepito will be accompanie­d into the North Bracket 1 quarterfin­als by their bitter rivals Mandaue City, which advanced with a 4-1 record capped by a 101-67 rout of Cordova.

Consolacio­n frolicked in the absence of Danao star players RustyAguil­ar and Ralph Laurence Nadela, who both served a one-game suspension after being ejected during their game versus Mandaue on Sunday night.

Froiland Maglasang and Marco Booker Panta came out firing from the start as Consolacio­n ripped the game apart at halftime, 51-31.

Jessie Bathan later joined the fray by dropping 16 of his 20 pointsinth­efinalhalf that catapulted Consolacio­n to a 49-point blowout of the hapless Danao side.

Maglasang finished with 17 points, Rey Gonzaga scored 18, Emmanuel Villamor nailed 11 markers, while Patrick Motano contribute­d 10 points to help Consolacio­n claim the North Bracket 1 title. Danao crashed out with a 3-2 card.

Alje Mendez, on the other hand, exploded for 33 points for Mandaue, which never looked back after jumping off to a hot 3016 start.

Paul John Sungahid added 14 points, while Nino Matthew Paras and Archie Buscay banged in 11 points each as Mandaue punched a ticket to the next round.
