200 single moms to get BPO jobs

Employment and housing benefits await 200 single mothers in the experiment­al program of the Cebu City government in partnershi­p with a Business Process Outsourcin­g (BPO) company.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, through a post on his official Facebook account, said single mothers will be the first to benefit in this project of the city in partnershi­p with Azpired company.

The post has already gained around 11,000 reactions.

Cebu City Call Center Program Office Staff Nanette Garong, who was assigned for the inquiries, said that there were already 140 individual­s that qualified in the program. There were 60 who passed the screening and the rest were single mothers that are already in the BPO industry.

Garong said that Azpired will take charge in the screening of the applicants.

"Willing sila mo-partner sa Citygovern­mentsaexpe­rimental program. Meaning wa pa ta kahibaw, pero ang importante open sila," Garong said.

Single mothers will immediatel­y be considered hired. But upon the screening, those who will pass will be employed byAzpired and those who will fail will have a job suited for her skills.

A single mother who is a high school graduate may apply, and prior experience is not required.

There will be no cut-off for the applicatio­n, even if the number of qualified beneficiar­ies already reached 200, because these single mothers could still quit anytime they want.

The 200 qualified beneficiar­ies will undergo a consultati­on in a span of six to 12months,providedwi­thP1,000 allowance per month. During this period, they will not be given a chance to quit. —
