Margot eyes raps for ‘addict’ tag
Cebu City Councilor Margarita Osmeña is eyeing at filing charges against former mayor Michael Rama who accused her of being a drug addict.
Rama told reporters yesterday that he is bringing the issue up after Osmeña’s group, the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan, referred to Barug Team Rama PDP-Laban as “Team Suyop.”
“Suyop” being used as reference to sniffing drugs, “Team Suyop” can be translated loosely as being a team that uses illegal substance.
Osmeña said Rama “must be under a lot of stress.” “God bless him nalang," she said. Mayor Tomas Osmeña also defended his wife.
"That doesn't need an explanation. She served already for 25 years. She doesn't make people ligid-ligid there. She doesn't walk into a telephone pole. Siya pa ang na drug addict? Na-praning na guro si Rama, uy," the mayor said.
Rama said the matter was raised in the past by Ninette Garcia, wife of former mayor Alvin Garcia.
"Yes, mao man na kaniadto pa... di ko kalimot ana. Gihinganlan na siya (Margot) og adik mismo sa asawa ni Alvin Garcia," Rama said.
Ninette is in the United States and could not be reached for comment, but former mayor Alvin said he could not confirm or deny the issue.
"I was not close to her (Margarita) at that time so your guess is as good as mine. By the way, the drugs at that time were known as LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide)," he told The FREEMAN.
He said the version of the drugs today is not as addicting as the one before.
"The drugs during her younger days before she was married were different from the shabu of today. They were not as addicting as the drugs today. There are rumors that her close friends were into it," he said.
LSD is a "powerful hallucinogenic drug that is derived originally from ergot, a fungus found growing wild on rye and other grasses."
BARANGAY POLLS
Yesterday, Rama expressed his sentiments regarding the flyers that said barangay captains affiliated with Barug Team Rama PDP-Laban failed to liquidate cash advances from the city.
"Wala ma'y nangawat anang unliquidated cash advances pero unsa ma'y gibuhat anang birdugo demonyoTomas Osmeña aron modaog ang iyahang kapitan? Giguba niya. Unya karon, hinganlan pa niya akong team og team suyop," Rama said.
"Gub-anay man kaha ta og tawo. Mao na akong gisulti. Ang tinud-anay, dili among team ang team suyop kay wala man ko misuyop. Wala ko ana," Rama said.
Told that Rama brought the issue up about his wife because of the “Team Suyop” reference, Tomas said: "You know, that's the problem with him. So what's the connection? Klaro kaayo yabag ang iyahang tingog. My message to Rama: Suyop pa more."
