- Gloreitta T. Lariosa

The Cebu Pink Paddlers, the country's first dragon boat team composed of all-female breast cancer survivors, will see action in the DBS Marina Regatta 2018 on June 2 at the Marina Bay in Singapore.

"The Pink Paddlers are ready to bring home the bacon and make our fellow Filipinos proud," said Cebu Pink Paddlers head coach Christian Ian Sy.

The Pink Paddlers will compete in the 200m survivors open category. They will go up against other cancer survivor teams coming from different countries including Singapore's Breast Cancer Foundation-Paddlers in the Pink with three teams and Purple Dragons represented by two squads.

"I always motivate and remind them that they are not just cancer survivors, they are now athletes," added Sy."We will have to test water today so we would know if we'll have changes on our prepared program that we are going to use in the race."

The Cebu Pink Paddlers is manned by Morena Pingco, Levi Abelides , Mirasol Viñas , Ma. Liberty Rañoa, Mary Ann Bojos, Rosalie Cobre, Marichu Dumoran, Sarah Jane Villegas, Eleonor Mercado, Eden Paluca, Aida Delos Reyes, Cheryll Bolo, Nonieta Percy, Aiza Lepon, Flor Mangapis, Connie Narrazo and Maribeth Dy.

After Singapore, the Pink Paddlers will defend their title in the Keelung International Dragon Boat Festival in Keelung City, Taiwan this October.—
