Gov’t worker, 4 others arrested for having drugs

At least five persons, including a Lapu-Lapu City government job order worker, were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations in the cities of LapuLapu and Mandaue last Thursday, where suspected shabu worth P145,848 was also seized.

Tirso Duhaylungs­od Mijares, 40, a job order worker under the Lapu-Lapu City government, was arrested at a security checkpoint along Zuellig Avenue on the side of Barangay Centro, Mandaue City, around 8:20 p.m.

Chief Inspector Aldrin Villacampa of the Centro Police Station 1 of the Mandaue City Police Office said Mijares was asked to stop by his personnel for a routine security inspection in the area.

Mijares was heading home to his residence in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City, at the time. When one of the policemen searched Mijares, they found three small sachets of suspected shabu.

Villacampa said Mijares is now detained in the holding cell of the MCPO.

Meanwhile, Reynaldo Cueva, 40, and his companion Ramil Condeza, 42, were arrested by the police in Purok Ukelele, Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.

Cueva is a resident of the area while Condez lives in Belgium Street, Barangay Pasil, Cebu City.

Senior Inspector Genesis Aniversari­o, deputy chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police OfficeCity Intelligen­ce Branch, arrested them around 10:30 a.m., seizing two medium-sized packs of suspected shabu weighing 10 grams and worth P118,000.

A total of P1,320 in suspected drug money was also seized during the operation.

In Sitio Datag of the same barangay, Aniversari­o, under the supervisio­n of Superinten­dent Mark Gifter Sucalit, chief of the LCPO-CIB, arrested Jimboy Luhit, 24, and Benjie Bacalla, 26, around 12:25 p.m.

Luhit is from Purok Caimito, Barangay Canjulao, while Bacalla is from Sitio Datag, according to Sucalit.

At least 10 small sachets of suspected shabu weighing 2.36 grams and estimated at P27,848 were confiscate­d. Police also seized P700 in suspected drug money.
