The Sun Patrol is Watching

-

Summer heat may be over, but the sunny tropical climate remains. It’s still time to get out there, and get that golden tan in one’s most stunning summer threads. Sitting back with a nice cold refreshing beverage in hand is still a pretty idea.

However, while the sun, sea, sand, and breeze together paint an amazing imagery of a tropical day, these elements can also damage the skin when exposed without protection.

A lot of people are guilty of stepping outdoors without any sun protection. While everyone dreads the signs of aging, most people don’t make an effort to be kind to their skin. Some might claim that they actually protect their skin by using sunblock. But the important question to ask is, are they doing enough and are they doing it right?

Some people go out of the house without an SPF of at least 30. Others apply sun protection only on the face and neglect the other exposed parts of the body. And they apply less than a pea- sized amount of sunblock on the face. Worse, they forget to reapply sunscreen every two hours.

Yes, many people are committing serious violations against their skin, perhaps without even knowing it. Incidentally, The Kojie•san Sunblock Sun Patrol is on the watch to see who are committing more skin care violations and if they could make a Citizen’s Arrest! To avoid getting arrested, everyone’s got to make sure they know a couple of things.

A variety of factors can cause damage to the skin but the biggest culprit is sun exposure! The sun’s ultraviolet rays break down collagen and elastin, making the skin rough and uneven. These rays also affect the melanocytes, which have something to do with the skin’s pigmentation.

What’s worse is that when the skin ages prematurely due to unprotected sun exposure – one can get wrinkles, brown spots and even skin cancer!

What can be done to prevent this is to stay out of the sun during the middle of the day when the sun’s rays are strongest, wear protective clothing such as hats and umbrellas and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen, which protect against both UVA and UVB rays, with a sun protection factor of 30 or higher. And, yes, before the Kojie•san Sun Patrol makes another Citizen’s Arrest – everyone shall not forget to reapply every two hours for maximum protection.
