Cebuano football enthusiasts can now watch their favorite team in action in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia via regular live streaming at the Cebu City Sports Center.

This, after Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña posted the announcement on his Facebook page granting the request of a football fan to put up a big screen so they can watch the games live on big screen.

"Football fans, your Cebu City Government, together with IPI (International Pharmateutcal Inc.) and Sky Cable, is proud to bring you the 2018 FIFA World Cup live on the big screen," Osmeña stated in his post last Friday."Since many have requested, we will be airing the games live in Abellana Grandstand every night..."

"Now you can dress in your team’s colors and fight the other team’s fans, just like they do in Europe," Osmeña stated in the last part of his post, adding "Bitaw, don’t fight there. Police will be in Abellana for a reason."

CCSC General Manager Ricky Ballesteros said the live public viewing will not affect the regular operation of the sports center, which most of people going in are joggers.

"This will not affect our operation. It's okay because mostly of our viewers are regular joggers. As of now we have few viewers pa (aside from the joggers) since the game has just started but we are expecting nga mas modaghan pa ang manan-aw in the coming days," Ballesteros said.

"It (public viewing) has become an added attraction to the joggers in the sports center. In Dumaguete City, they have also a public viewing there, and its nice that we are also having this in CCSC."

Ballesteros said the airing of the games will be daily, starting from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Public viewers will just pay the regular P20 entrance to the sports center to watch and enjoy the game live on the big screen inside the grandstand. The schedule of games also are posted daily at the CCSC Facebook page.—
