PB committee revamp expected next month
A change in committee chairmanship within the Provincial Board (PB) is expected in July as a new ex-officio officer joins Capitol’s legislative arm, according to Vice Governor Agnes Magpale.
At present there are 16 seats in the PB, excluding Vice Governor Agnes Magpale.
There are seven legislative districts in Cebu Province, each district with two PB member which accounts to a total of fourteen seats.
The remaining two seats are allocated to the president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) and the president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL).
With the return of the Sangguniang Kabataan, a new seat will be opened once the elected SK Federation president in Cebu Province assumes office.
Last June 8, Jerico Rubio of Malabuyoc, Cebu was elected as provincial SK president and will soon take a seat in the PB.
Magpale told reporters that the chairmanship for youth and sports development will be handed over to Rubio.
Aside from that committee, she said it is possible that there will be more reshuffling of chairmanship but the PB is yet to discuss the matter.
Meanwhile, the vice governor is not at all worried about Rubio’s admission that he still lacks training on parliamentary procedures.
Rubio had earlier admitted that he is an incoming Grade 12 student and has no prior experience in terms of politics.
Magpale said that as long as Rubio will show passion, commitment, and integrity, the members of the Provincial Board will be there to assist him.
With regards to the training, she said that the incoming youngest PB member will have an avenue to learn parliamentary procedures since the PB have occasional specialized training in order to perform their responsibilities better. –
