- — Lorraine

One employee of Naga City government tested positive in a random drug test conducted by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) last week.

CPADAO Chief Carmen Ivy Remedios Durano-Meca revealed he is a job order employee. Out of the 63 employees who underwent the test, he was the only one who tested positive of drug use.

The male employee will undergo a confirmatory test to verify the test result, which will determine further action to be taken by the city government.

The test was conducted last June 11. Two days later, another drug test was conducted for the police force of Naga City.

No one of the 45 members of Naga City police tested positive.

In another development, another batch of drug-cleared barangays will be revealed on June 19 at the Capitol Social Hall.

Meca said 59 barangays will be added to the 185 drug-cleared barangays.

One of the barangays is in Sogod town, 18 in Borbon, nine in Alegria, two in Samboan, four in San Francisco, one in the City of Naga, four in Oslob, 16 in Tabogon, three in Medellin, and one in San Remigio.

Bogo City was the first local government unit in Cebu Province to be declared as drugcleared.

After the proclamation on Tuesday, there will be a total of eight local government units in Cebu that are considered as drug-cleared.

These are Bogo City, Pilar, Poro, Tudela, San Francisco, Alegria, Borbon, and San Remigio.

Cebu will soon have a total of 244 drugcleared barangays or 22.8% of the total 1,066 barangays in the whole province.
