Mendoza, Robin, Cebu Ivy dominate BiG 2018
Martin ‘Niño’ Mendoza played one of the best games of his life, Edwin Robin also had a big game and the allKorean Cebu Ivy Education Center came strong to top the 2018 Business in Golf Tournament played last Thursday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City.
Mendoza was the biggest winner in the tournament dubbed as BiG as he bagged both the best gross and best net titles owing to a spectacular seven-under-par 65performance.
Mendoza garnered a total of 43 gross points in the Stableford Scoring System and 48 points net points. He edged Edwin Go Lim in the race for the best net honors by virtue of a better last six holes total.
Robin, who played for BPI 2, won the golfer of the year award. This honor is given to the company representative or alternate to the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) with the best score in the tournament.
The event is held by the CCCI as part of the Cebu Business Month celebration.
Robin had a total of 40 points.
In the battle for team honors, Cebu Ivy had a total of 97 points from its two best-ball pairs. The first pair composed of Joseph Shin and Yoon Sea Gwanfired46pointswhileBruce Shin and Billy Choi shot 51 points.
The tournament format required each player to play his own ball and the better of the two scores on each hole will be the one to count.
First runner-up in the team event was Montessori School of Joy with 95 points. The duo of brothers Edward and Henry Chu fired 47 points while buddies Razi Razon and Lando Alberto combined for 48.
Second runner-up was Vanex Trading with 93 points. The duo of Ramon Sebastian and tournament chairman Nimrod NL Quiñones had 45 points while the tandem of Vicente Go and Manuel ‘Jun’ Zosa had 48.
