An 18-year-old high school student was stabbed dead by an unidentified man, allegedly a member of a fraternity, in Sitio Viking, Barangay Mambaling at 2 a.m. yesterday.

The victim was identified as Niño Catubig, a resident of Sitio Sipphie Ibabao, of the said barangay.

Senior Police Officer 1 Geoffrey Gutual, case investigator, said the victim was with his friends on their way home when they met a group of teenagers, about seven boys and six girls, who are believed to be members of a fraternity.

Gutual said that the group confronted Catubig and his friends if they were responsible for mauling their fellow frat member.

The victim denied but the teenagers did not believe him. The victim and his friends ran to avoid trouble but the group reportedly caught up with them.

One of the teenagers stabbed Catubig several times in his chest. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

“Gipareglahan ra ni. Na-aan lang ba,” said Gutual.

The teenagers immediately fled after the incident. The police are conducting a follow-up operation for the possible identification and arrest of the attacker.

Gutual said that they are checking if there is a closedcircuit television (CCTV) camera in the area that might have captured the incident.
