ILOILO CITY — Newly re-elected barangay chairwoman Remia Gregori, sister of slain Western Visayas drug lord Richard Prevendido, and her female assistant were killed in a gun attack Sunday afternoon (June 24) at her resort in San Joaquin town of Iloilo.

Gregori, village chief of Bakhaw in Mandurriao district of Iloilo City, was gunned down at her occupied room in their family-owned Crystal Beach Resort at Barangay Igcadlum in San Joaquin.

Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, Iloilo Police provincial director, said that Gregori’s personal assistant, Analee Antipatria, was also killed during the attack. Gregori's husband, Bonifacio Sr., was wounded but survived the attack.

The two women were rushed to the San Joaquin District Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Tayaba said there were around five assailants, all reportedly wearing bonnets, arrived at the resort on board two Toyota Vios sedans, red and silver, and immediately proceeded to the victims’ room to carry out the deadly attack.

Despite being on the narco-list, Gregori convincingly won the barangay chair post of Bakhaw, which was earlier known as Iloilo City’s drug haven.

Tayaba said Gregori was listed by the police as a national high value target, and level 4 drug personality, along with her sons and daughters who have pending arrest warrants also for drugs charges. One of her sons, Bonifacio Jr. is now in jail facing drug charges.

Gregori's aide, Analee, was also tagged by some sources as courier of illegal drugs and a cohort in the drug trade, Tayaba said.

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) subjected Gregori in Oplan Tokhang operation in the past. She indeed went to the police station but only to deny her alleged involvement in drugs.

Meanwhile, Gregori's brother Richard Prevendido and his son, Jason, were killed in a police operation on September 1 last year, at Landheights Subdivision in Barangay Balabago of Jaro district, Iloilo City.
