Cebu jins shine in National tikefest

The spirited Cebuano jins led by Glenn Lava shone brightly in the 2018 National Poomsae Championsh­ips the other night at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Former national team member Lava collected eight gold, nine silver and nine bronze medals plus a first runner-up in the team standing of the cadet division.

Aidaiane Laxa of Star Taekwondo snared the gold in the junior black belt division. His five teammates namely Erika Amora, Roljan Ylanan, Rayn Perez, Manuel Mativo and Edison John Libor also handed gold medals.

Star got five individual silvers through John Nicholas Corloncint­o, Niko Albao, Kyra Paglinawan, Xander Palacpac and Nino Rimas while eight bronzes via the efforts of Gabrielle Besanes, Troy Cuyos, Christian Castellano, Brendan Eya, Raizel Keith Carcueva, Kirk Gonzales, Lee Robeigayle Navales and Kenneth Gonzales.

They also got two team golds via Amora, Besanes and Kyla Montebon in the yellow belt grade school division and Carcueva, Albap and Reggie Dabasol in the cadet blue belt action.

Laxa also added a silver along with Nohea and Cheyena Dela Fuente in the team competitio­n for junior girls while Cody and Clive Renejane and Kenneth Gonzales ended with a bronze in the grade school battle.

Other silver medalists were Navales and Aldrien Abrio in the mixed pair competitio­n, Alyssa and Alexander Llenes in the cadet pairs event and Hannifah Oswa and Ethan Abella in the pairs’ grade school division action.

Meanwhile, Bogo City's Theodore Montecalvo got a gold in the red belt grade school division to seal Avenger’s Taekwondo Center’s bid with three golds plus two silvers and a bronze.

Toledo Taekwondo Team of Maria Lorena and Giovanni Genovesa also made their presence felt with a gold, silver, and four bronze medals. —
