2 cops, 1 other found positive for drug use
Two police officers and one non-uniformed personnel (NUP) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) tested positive for drug use in the confirmatory test, according to Senior Supt. Manuel Abrugena.
The three personnel had already tested positive during random drug testing conducted in their respective stations early this year.
Abrugena, who heads the CPPO, said that they are very keen in their internal cleansing of their own personnel, as this is one of the main directives that Police Regional Office (PRO)–7 Director Debold Sinas had given to them.
The three personnel are now assigned at the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) of the CPPO, as the dismissal proceedings are still ongoing, according to Abrugena.
“They are being restricted and continuously minomonitor ang kanilang activities and at the same time ang kanilang cases ay pina-fast track ang resolution so that hindi na sila magtagal sa serbisyo. Kung mapatunayan na nagkasala, they should not stay even a minute in the PNP service,” said Abrugena.
He also assured that surprise drug tests to all their personnel will be continuously conducted, to ensure that no one is involved in illegal drugs.
For the first quarter of 2018, the CPPO already conducted random drug testing to more than half of their personnel or at least 1,075.
Abrugena added that they will not tolerate any of their personnel involved in any form of illegal activities, including illegal drugs.
He said that if they will receive any complaint from the public regarding erring policeman, they will immediately act on it.
“Kapag may complaint ay immediately removed them at nire-assign sa other offices para hindi magkaroon ng anumang (hadlang) ang ongoing investigation and then mas pinapadali po natin ngayon ang paglalapat ng cases against them,” Abrugena said.
