P1.4 M shabu seized in separate buy-bust operations
More than half million worth of suspected shabu was seized from three alleged drug peddlers in a buy-bust operation at Sitio Kadoldolan, Barangay Lawaan 3, Talisay City yesterday afternoon.
The arrested suspects were identified by the police as Norhaine Magondacan, 41, a native of Marawi and was the subject of the operation; Mutya Manusa, 23, a native of Zamboanga del Sur; and Montasir Obpon, a native of Shariff Aguak Mindanao.
Talisay City Police Chief Marlu Conag said that they received a report from the community regarding the illegal activities of the suspects in the area, which prompted them to validate and conduct an operation, together with the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB).
Recovered from the suspects were two large packs and three medium packs of suspected shabu valued at P649,000.
The police also recovered from the suspects P145,000, which was believed to be proceeds of their illegal drug activity.
The arrested suspects are allegedly connected to a big time drug peddler, who was already jailed but was able to bail out.
In a separate operation, the authorities seized almost P700,000 worth of suspected shabu from a couple during a buy-bust operation conducted by the anti-narcotic operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)–7 along White Road, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City last Friday afternoon.
The suspects Roberto Ocampo Jr., 50, and his live-in partner, Annabelle Y. Labrada, 48, yielded seven packs of suspected shabu worth P680, 000.
The arrested suspects are now temporarily detained at the PDEA-7 prison cell pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against them.
In Minglanilla, an alleged gun-for-hire and his cohort were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Vito, Minglanilla last Thursday.
The authorities seized suspected shabu worth P96,170 from suspect Arthur ‘Tura’ Lariosa, 39, a resident of the aforementioned place and cohort, identified as Elmer Alipar, 23.
Minglanilla Police Chief Verniño Noserale said that Lariosa allegedly is already known to be involved in gun-for-hire and is also included in their watchlist in illegal drugs.
Recovered from Lariosa was a 9mm caliber pistol with live ammunition.
Noserale said that the recovered firearm will be subjected to ballistic examination at the crime laboratory to check if it was used in committing crime.
The suspects are now detained at the Minglanilla Police lock –up cell pending for filing of charges in court.
