A three-year-old boy died after he was hit by a stray bullet during an anti-drug operation conducted by elements of Carbon Police Station in Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita at 1 p.m. yesterday.

According to Police Senior Inspector John Kareen Escobar, station commander, they received a report from a concerned citizen about an ongoing session and repacking of illegal drugs in a shanty in Sitio Bato.

Escober sent his men to verify and they were able to confirm the report.

The operatives introduced themselves as policemen and a commotion ensued. Then, a gunshot was heard and the four drug personalities were able to evade arrest.

Shortly after, they learned that a boy living in the nearby house was hit by a stray bullet.

The child was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center for immediate medical attention but he later died.

Police Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas said the drug personalities are street level pushers.

Several drug paraphernalia and about eight grams of shabu with an estimated value of P80,000 were confiscated during the operation.
