Crackdown on counterflowing in the south
Motorists, be warned.
Implementation of Mayor Tomas Osmeña's Executive Order No. 34, which seeks to penalize counterflowing, is being strictly enforced in Cebu City south district starting yesterday.
Counterflowing or cutting on the queue of vehicles by driving into the traffic that flows in the opposite direction is one of the factors contributing to bottlenecks.
The mayor said the enforcement of the policy would help ease the "monstrous" traffic in the south due to the ongoing underpass project on N. BacalsoAvenue corner F. Llamas Street.
"N. Bacalso's traffic is bad enough already. We do not need people breaking the law to make it even worse. Any vehicle caught counterflowing in N. Bacalso or the surrounding streets will be impounded for 60 days or until the underpass is finished, whichever is later," read Osmeña's Facebook post Monday.
