Hidilyn Diaz to grace CWA's twin events today
Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz takes a time off with her preparation for the Asian Games to witness the National Students Weightlifting Championships and CWA Affiliate Women's Weightlifting Invitational today at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.
The pinay weightlifter Diaz, who handed the country's first Olmpic medal in 20 years in the 2016 Olympics, will be the guest speaker in the tournament that will be participated by over 20 young lifters all over the country.
The CWA National Students Championships serves as a qualifiying tournament for the upcoming World University Championships in Podlaska, Poland this September.
The participating schools are University of Cebu, University of San Carlos, University of Bohol, Holy Name University, Bohol Institute of Technology, Mapua University, Mabolo National High School, ICCT College, New Era University and University of Zamboanga.
On the other hand, the CWA Women's Affiliated Invitational is exclusive to female lifters.
The weight classes under the men's bracket are 56kg, 62kg, 69kg, 77kg, 85kg, 94kg, 105kg and +105kg, while the women's and open category will have the 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 75kg, 90kg, and +90kg.
Trophies and medals will be given away to the top performers. —
