Hidilyn Diaz to grace CWA's twin events today

Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz takes a time off with her preparatio­n for the Asian Games to witness the National Students Weightlift­ing Championsh­ips and CWA Affiliate Women's Weightlift­ing Invitation­al today at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

The pinay weightlift­er Diaz, who handed the country's first Olmpic medal in 20 years in the 2016 Olympics, will be the guest speaker in the tournament that will be participat­ed by over 20 young lifters all over the country.

The CWA National Students Championsh­ips serves as a qualifiyin­g tournament for the upcoming World University Championsh­ips in Podlaska, Poland this September.

The participat­ing schools are University of Cebu, University of San Carlos, University of Bohol, Holy Name University, Bohol Institute of Technology, Mapua University, Mabolo National High School, ICCT College, New Era University and University of Zamboanga.

On the other hand, the CWA Women's Affiliated Invitation­al is exclusive to female lifters.

The weight classes under the men's bracket are 56kg, 62kg, 69kg, 77kg, 85kg, 94kg, 105kg and +105kg, while the women's and open category will have the 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 75kg, 90kg, and +90kg.

Trophies and medals will be given away to the top performers. —
