Fitness buffs and adrenaline junkies alike will have another exciting event to look forward with the staging of the "The Big Gorilla Challenge" on September 2 at the Gorilla Boot Camp in Barangay Latasan, Labogon, Mandaue City.

Gorilla Boot Camp founder Antonette Veloso said that since they launched their first mini obstacle course challenge last May, the demand of the people drove them to do another event.

"For us it was very successful. We've been receiving a hundred percent positive feedbacks from the participants and to those who have witnessed the race and they've been asking for more that's why we decided to do another challenge," Veloso said in a press conference yesterday at Big Hotel in Mandaue City.

Conceptualized in the last quarter of 2017, the Gorilla Boot Camp is the newest and first open field boot camp in Cebu. It pioneers the obstacle course race (OCR) training revolution in Cebu.

The boot camp is a five-hectare land with an upgraded facility full of obstacle courses.

During the race, the participants will deal with at least 23 obstacle challenges such as the cargo net crawl, hurdles, tire drag and pull, among others.

The categories to be contested are the sixkilometer Elite men and women, and the 6k open for men and women.

The top three winners in the elite category both in the men's and women's division will receive P20,000, P15,000 and P10,000, respectively. They will also have the chance to join in an international tournament this September courtesy of Spartan Race Philippines.

Interested parties can still catch up with the early bird fee of P1,500 until today. The regular registration rate is P2,000 inclusive of a finisher's shirt, medal, race band, meal and refreshments, drawstring bag, giveaways and raffle coupon. One may register at Alburs Veranda, Runnr Store in Ayala or visit race. ph/gorilla. —
