10 persons nabbed in separate drug ops

Ten persons were arrested, including two minors, in separate drug-related operations by different police units in Cebu that yielded about P1.1 million worth of illegal drugs.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (PDEA)-7 nabbed Deither Ocaba,18, and two minors aged 15 and 17, along Sanciangko Street, Barangay Pahina Central, Cebu City last Thursday morning. The suspects yielded two large packs of suspected shabu valued at P374,000 and a motorcycle.

PDEA-7 Spokespers­on Leia Albiar said they received informatio­n from the community regarding the suspects’ involvemen­t in the illegal drug trade, which prompted the operatives to conduct surveillan­ce for one week.

"Sila ang contact and sila pud ang maghatod. Naa pay investigat­ion kung kinsa ilang source kay dili daw ni sila mobaligya og ginagmay," said Albiar.

PREGNANT WOMAN NABBED

In a separate operation in Sambag 2, Cebu City, a woman who was allegedly two months pregnant was arrested by the Mambaling Drug Enforcemen­t Unit and the PDEA-7 at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Police Chief Inspector Randy Tedio Caballes of the Mambaling Police Station said that right after the arrest, the suspect, Jennifer Cabatingan alias “Jen,” 37, claimed that she is two months pregnant, so she can't go to jail.

Caballes said that the suspect was immediatel­y subjected to medical examinatio­n, including pregnancy test, but the result was negative.

At least five medium sachets of suspected shabu valued at P295,000 were recovered from Cabatingan.

“Iyang buhaton kay moangkat siya og drugs nya iya stock sa balay nya mao iya ibaligya,” he said.

Police also recovered cash believed to be proceeds of her illegal activity.

MARIJUANA PLANTS

Meanwhile, in Toledo City, more than P150,000 worth of marijuana plants were uprooted in Barangay Matab-ang last Thursday afternoon.

The cultivator, identified by the police as Leonardo Tante, legal age, was able to elude arrest after he sensed police presence while watering the marijuana plants.

Operatives of the Toledo City Police Station, in a joint operation with the Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), uprooted a total of 600 marijuana stalks and 400 fully grown plants worth P155,000.

SPO1 Roxam Enerio of the Toledo Police Station said that Tante is a newly-identified drug personalit­y.

“Pag-abot namo didto nakabantay mi nga namisbis siya sa mga tanom nga marijuana, dayun nakabantay siya nga nangabot mi. Mao to nakaikyas siya kay nisuot man siya sa mga tanuman,” Enerio said.

BUY-BUSTS

In Carcar, the authoritie­s nabbed Rowelito Remompo, 31, a resident of Upper Cogon, Poblacion 1, a buy-bust operation.

Seized from his possession were four small sachets of illegal drugs.

In Minglanill­a, Socrates Mahilum, 37, a resident of Poblacion Ward 3, Minglanill­a was arrested in a buy-bust operation.

Confiscate­d from him were six small packs of suspected shabu and P600 buy-bust money.

In another buy-bust operation, the Mabolo policemen arrested Ceasar Coliflores, 45, and Norbena Taneza, 41, at Sitio Panaghiusa, Barangay Carreta, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

Recovered from the suspects were four medium packs and 28 small packs of shabu worth 280,450.

Police also recovered three illegal guns (9mm caliber, .45 caliber and 357 revolver) from Coliflores and cash believed to be proceeds of their illegal activity.

Meanwhile, Maritzhel Nabua, 32, and Cecille Albana, 24, were also arrested.

Recovered from the suspects were one medium pack and 11 small packs of shabu worth P35,400.
