CSBT revenue drops in first half of 2018

-

The revenue of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) has dropped by over four percent or P1.4 million for the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2016.

CSBT reported P32.73 million in revenues from January to June which fell short of last year’s revenue collection of P34.14 million.

The amount was generated from CSBT’s revenue-generating operations, such as the collection of terminal fee, taxi stand, comfort room, and space rental.

The decrease was attributed to lesser terminal fee and taxi stand collection.

The collection for the terminal fee went down to P19.38 million this year from P20.29 million last year, while the taxi stand revenue went down by P200,000 from last year’s P4.7 million.

CSBT Manager Joey Herrera explained that the fewer bus trips due to traffic congestion resulted in the decrease of terminal’s revenue.

"Nagpasabot na sya nga minus ang bus trip. Naa’y several factors, one is the traffic, meaning ang usa ka bus sa una nga panahon, karon upat na lang, kay dugay kabalik, mao na ang akong pangagpas,” he said.

He clarified that there is no shortage of buses.

Despite the decrease, the income this year is higher compared to the revenues posted in 2016 and 2015, which were P32.64 million and P31.98 million, respectively.

Moreover, Herrera is optimistic that CSBT will reach its target revenue collection of P70 million within the year.

He said they are planning to increase the number of bus trips during the peak season to hit this year’s revenue target.
