Sorongon, Agustin top Cancer Warriors Run

Cebu-based Mindanao long distance runner Ruffa Sorongon clinched her second straight title this month after topping the Cancer Warriors Run 2018 backed up by Rose Pharmacy yesterday at the Cebu Business Park.

The pride of Sultan Kudarat, who ruled the women’s 21K battle in the St. Ignatius Run 2018 last week, crossed the finish line with the best time of 41 minutes and 15 seconds to lord it over the women’s 10-kilometer race.

Spectrum Runners’ Evamie Villarin (41:36) and Angel Estillore (48:45) finished at second and third, respective­ly.

In the men’s division, Ychon Agustin, Jr. snared the crown with the time of 33 minutes and 49 seconds. Joseph Emia wound up second in 34:36 followed by Jorry Ycong with a 35:09 clocking.

Karen Manayon and Arnel Florentino, on the other hand, stamped their respective classes in the 5K action.

Manayon placed first in the women’s class with a time of 19:51 followed by Geniecel Saballa (20:10) and Charrisse Encarnacio­n (21:08), while Florentino is the men’s best in 16:43 followed by Andrew Kim Remolino (17:10) and Harold Kim Guiao (17:22).

The top three winners in the 3K were Lourence Yvory Garcia (11:40), Mariele Estreba (11:44) and Nicole Del Rosario (12:29) in the women’s class, and Ariel Saballa (09:48), Ian Refuela (10:16) and Marl Adrian Baguio (10:23) in the men’s division. —
