Local content creators to gather at Inf luencity
Established social media influencers in Cebu are spearheading an advocacy to encourage the digitalsavvy generation to monetize their online presence.
Led by fashion blogger Andrew ‘Doyzkie’ Buenaviaje, a twoday gathering of social media influencers from Cebu and Metro Manila dubbed as “Influencity” was organized to provide a venue for followers to meet social media influencers, at the same time learn from them how to take advantage the digital highway to earn.
“The digital age has created a lot of opportunities for content creators, and Cebu has a handful of these influencers that have contributed in shaping the Metro’s cyber scene and pushing for positive conversation in real life,” said Buenaviaje in a press conference to formally introduce “Influencity” to the public.
Influencity aims to bring in local e-authors together on August 11-12, 2018 at the Ayala Center Cebu where influencers will get the chance to meet their readers and share with them best practices.
Buenaviaje said Cebu has to build a strong community of social media influencers by teaching aspiring social media content creators to participate in the digital sphere and monetize social media presence.
In Metro Manila, this kind of community has already taken off. In fact, brands are now commissioning Manilabased influencers as endorsers.
Although Cebu has great potential to produce social media influencers in different fields of interest, it has to build a stronger community, and convince brands to commission local influencers.
Joined by successful social media influencers Jean Yu, Toni Pina, and Marco Paulo Diala, the group aims to jumpstart a community of local influencers as well as develop closer connection with online followers.
“The readers can visit the two-day gathering at the Activity Center of Ayala Center Cebu and drop by any of the influencers’ booth where they can personally ask them for tips and tricks, as well as check out and buy their pre-loved items,” said Buenaviaje.
Buenaviaje who has been in the blogging sphere for 11 years, said the event hopes to teach and influence potential content creators on social media on how to capitalize or monetize their presence.
A growing number of brands have already commissioned social media influencers as endorsers or brand ambassadors, based on their number of followers on social media accounts.
Influencity however is not solely for aspiring content creators. It also welcomes everyone, including bargain hunters, beauty afficionados, as well as students who are curious to know how to use social media responsibly and effectively, added Buenaviaje.
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has always responded to the call for support on health advocacy campaign of the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) for mass blood donations.
CCCI’S SUPPORT TO ANNUAL GRAND
BLOODLETTING
CCCI, in collaboration with District 3860 Rotary International, Philippine Red Cross Eastern Visayas Regional Blood Center (PRC-EVRBC) and Department of Health Regional Blood Center – 7, participated in the recently concluded Grand Bloodletting event last July 29 at Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
Bannering the theme “Be there for someone else. Give blood. Share life.”, the Grand Bloodletting activity convened a mass donation of blood from healthy volunteers coming from various sectors of the Cebu society and in observance of the National Blood Donor’s month which is the month of July.
The bloodletting activity was able to collect 189 bags of blood, which would help save countless lives every day. The need for blood is unpredictable and it is why having a ready blood supply is vital to our community.
The outpouring benevolence and invaluable support of the partners and sponsors has further paved the way of attaining the goal of this life-saving blood donation mission.
Indeed, the continued collaboration and cooperation of everyone involved set another remarkable milestone for a healthy Cebu that would surely be achieved this year and beyond.
