Marijuana worth P.6M uprooted
Policemen found and uprooted around P600,000 worth of marijuana plants in a plantation yesterday in Barangay Kaluangan, Asturias.
Earlier, the Asturias Police Station received a report from a barangay captain about a marijuana plantation allegedly found in a mountainous part of the barangay. Policemen led by Senior Inspector Jade Campo Sumugat immediately went to the area.
With t he help of barangay ta nods, they uprooted at least 3,000 fullygrown marijuana plants. These were later brought to the Asturias police station.
The police still do not know who owned the plantation.
Meanwhile, four drug suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations conducted by police the other day in barangays Tejero, Sto. Niño, and Pasil in Cebu City.
In Barangay Sto. Niño around 9 p.m. the other day Jayphil Tribunalo Aguilar, 33, a resident of Pinamungajan, and Marco Bulaong, 18, a street dweller, were arrested in an operation conducted by the Waterfront Police Station in a pension house along Manalili Street.
Recovered from the suspects were one medium pack and 51 small packs of shabu worth P59,000.
In Sit io Law is, Barangay Pasil, personnel of the Cebu Drug Enforcement Unit and Cebu City Police Office arrested Arnila Ocaba Abas, 51, around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
He yielded one medium pack and three small packs of shabu worth P70,800.
Meanwhile, Melvin Canales Dayon, 30, and a resident in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City, was also arrested by elements of the Waterfront Police Station in Sitio Looban, U. Aviola Street, Barangay Tejero.
The suspect was found with four small packs of shabu worth P3,304.
In Cebu Province five men were also arrested in a separate buy-bust operations the other day.
In Barili, authorities arrested Erwin Abasalo, 33, and Ronald Ewayan, 30. According to Police Officer 2 Jeffrey Alpas of the Barili Police Station, the suspects tried to escape after they realized they were dealing with policemen.
They goto na motorcycle and tried to escape but were arrested at a checkpoint in Barangay Guadalupe, Carcar City.
The two yielded the P500 marked money, one medium transparent plastic sachet of shabu, and five plastic packs of shabu.
In Danao City, Froilan Flores, 35, and Hilarion Derecho III, 33, were arrested in a buy-bust operation. Recovered from them were 15 small packs of suspected shabu, and P350 in suspected drug money.
In Bogo City, Joseph Estanio was arrested in another buy-bust operation. Authorities confiscated four small packs of suspected shabu, and P700 in suspected drug money from him.
