Int’l pageant dates, venues all set for Binibini queens

- By KARLA RULE

It’s been almost five months since our Binibining Pilipinas 2018 queens have been crowned. Time flies fast and before we know it, the international competition dates and venues have now been finalized, giving our six reigning beauty queens a heads up as they gear for their dates with destiny.

CATRIONA

The most highly-anticipated among all the pageants, this year’s Miss Universe staging had just been announced to unfold in Thailand on December 17. This is the second time for Thailand to host Miss Universe in 13 years.

Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray is excited to return to the Land of Smiles where she recently vacationed. The 24-year-old fan favorite announced the venue reveal with a video, showing her latest trip to Thailand sponsored by AirAsia.

Will the Fil-Aussie, who also represented the country at Miss World 2016, succeed South Africa’s Demi Leigh Nel-Peters and make Pinoys the universe over feel collectively jubilant once more?

JEHZA

Davao City’s Jehza Huelar, crowned Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2018, will be Poland-bound for the Miss Supranational finals on December 7. To be held in the historic city of Krynica-Zdrój, this year’s Miss Supranational is eyed to be a lot more special as it marks its tenth year. Jehza, 23, will be competing against more than 60 delegates.

Mutya Datul made history in 2013 as the Philippines’ first Miss Supranational title-holder.

First up is Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2018 Michele Gumabao, 25, who is set to compete in Albania against more than 50 countries within five continents c beginning October 9.

While the original plan was to stage this year’s y edition in Vietnam, it has been decided th that Vietnamese beauty queen and reigning Miss G Globe 2017 Do Tran Khanh Ngan will officially re relinquish her crown in Albania (where the Miss G Globe organization headquarters is located), at the Amphitheatre in Tirana on the Oct. 21 for the coronation night.

Fingers crossed that Michele surpasses Nelda Ibe’s first runner-up finish in 2017.

AHTISA

For the 58th time, the Miss International competition will be held at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo in November 9. Scheduled to fly in the second half of October is Bb. Pilipinas International 2018 Ahtisa Manalo, the youngest among the current Binibini queens (she turned 21 in May).

Vying for what we hope to be the seventh Miss International crown for the Philippines, the Reyna ng Aliwan alumna could have a sandwich win on her shoulders after Kylie Verzosa’s 2016 victory and Mariel De Leon’s failed attempt last year.

EVA

Facing her fate in the same month is Cebu’s Eva Patalinjug, the reigning Bb. Pilipinas Grand International, who succeeded fellow Cebuana Elizabeth Clenci.

Eva, currently a law student, is set to see the Golden Land of Myanmar for this year’s staging of Miss Grand International. Over 80 delegates from all over the world will vie for the crown in the finals to be held at The One Entertainment Park in Yangon come Oct. 25.

The Mutya ng Pilipinas and Miss Mandaue alumna, who might get her send-off by late September, will be wearing a Cary Santiago creation for her national costume and a Philipp Tampus evening gown.

She is hoping to win the Philippines’ first Miss Grand International title.

KAREN

Last to fulfill her mission is Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2018 Karen Gallman. The Fil-Aussie education advocate from Bohol will have to brave the double pressure of competing for an international crown while being the host delegate.

The 47th Miss Intercontinental competition will be held in the Philippines from January 9-26, 2019 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Karen, 25, will strive to outdo Katarina Rodriguez’s first runner-up placement last year and win the country’s first Miss Intercontinental crown.
