Melody Hodgson releases single, music video
“Bantay la’g ako’y mo sexy, maglaway ra ka,” so goes the lyrics of this new breakup song that attempts to poke fun at immature ex-boyfriends.
Singer-songwriter Melody Hodgson immediately released a music video last Friday, hitting the nail right on the head. She usually takes inspiration from her friends’ relationships to write a song, but “Hahay” is one exception.
It took her a year to release “Hahay” as she was on hiatus in the UK. Cattski Espina of Room 11 Recording Studio ably brought the song to life.
Given Hodgson’s recent short stay in Cebu, she worked closely with her director-editor Anthony Vios Uy to lock the music video concept a few hours after her touchdown, prep the production in two days, and shoot it in half a day. The rest was achieved with post-production magic.
Having grown up in Cebu, Melody was into pageants, theater, and singing contests. Her most noteworthy achievement was emerging first runnerup as Katy Perry on “It’s Showtime’s” Kaloka-like contest.
She has transitioned as an artist since then and chooses to focus on creating original music rather than impersonating.
“Hahay” can be streamed and downloaded on iTunes and Spotify, and its lyric and music videos are uploaded on Viva Records’ YouTube channel.
A prize money of P10,000 is up for grabs to those who can send in the wackiest cover of “Hahay.”
