TRANS-ASIA SHIPPING LINES, INC.

LAUNCHES ITS NEW FLAGSHIP VESSEL

-

A bigger and bolder Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, Inc. (Trans-Asia) launches its new flagship vessel – MV TransAsia 1 on August 3.

Banking on its more than four decades of existence and unparalleled experience in the domestic shipping market, Trans-Asia continues to invest in the acquisition of new vessels and explores new ports of operations for expansion. Through the years having demonstrated sustained resilience and proven ability to deliver a safe, convenient, and memorable travel experience, and with its significant number of loyal customers that shows continued patronage despite fierce competition, Trans-Asia believes it is ready to take on a bigger challenge.

TRANS-ASIA’S 20/20 VISION

During its 44th Founding Anniversary on March 25, Trans-Asia announced its Vision 20/20 Program. This program encapsulates its goals to launch 10 new vessels and add 10 new domestic ports of operations, resulting to a total of 20-vessel fleet and 20 ports of calls by 2020. “We firmly believe that this vision will be realized through leveraging on our brand and experience in the domestic shipping. In addition, we see a lot of potentials in the economic developments, especially those observed in the Visayas and Mindanao regions,” said Trans-Asia President and CEO Arthur Kenneth L. Sy.

During the next couple of months, TransAsia will be launching two (2) cargo freighter vessels – MV Trans-Asia 16 and MV Trans-Asia 17. MV TransAsia 16 with a cargo capacity of 500 TEUs will soon be serving the Cebu – Manila – Cebu route, while MV TransAsia 17 of the same capacity will be plying the Manila – Davao – Manila route. These brings to a total of [7] RoPax vessels and [6] cargo vessels calling in [11] ports in the country. At any given time, in aggregate, these vessels can carry approximately [5,300] passengers and [1,900] TEUs. Standing by for renovation is a RoPax vessel MV Trans-Asia 18, a cargo freighter MV TransAsia 15 and before year end, a newly built RoPax vessel (MV Trans-Asia 19) from Kegoya Japan will be arriving in Philippine shores.

Trans-Asia’s “Bigger and Bolder” campaign was simultaneously launched to further strengthen its internal processes and systems and attract diverse talent pool with the necessary skill set, passion and drive to improve the Philippine shipping industry. “Year-to-date, our manpower complement grew by 20%. We are looking forward to being able to provide more job opportunities within the region and across the country as we pursue our 20/20 Vision,” said Mr. Kenneth Sy.
