Vipers upstage Converters in E-Leagues grudge match

-

The Teleperformance Vipers downed three-time defending champions Convergys Converters, 59-53, in a rematch of last year’s finals in the Elite Classic division of the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 14 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.

Mon Xavier Dico, Marcos Genteli Junggoy III and Jay San Villanueva Brigoli, connived for 37 points, 13 rebounds, five steals, two assists and two blocks as Teleperformance jumped to solo second spot with a 4-1 win-loss record behind the 4-0 Accenture Sharks.

Lourenz Limpangog was the lone doubledigit scorer with 21 markers for Convergys, which fell to 2-2.

In the EVO League, Ralph Belarmino sparkled with 34 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists as the Dreamscape Networks Lions whipped the Optum Knights, 65-51, to keep their unbeaten record intact.

John Nicole Sultan had 14 points and Agustin Dakay Jr. scored 10 but to no avail as Optum dropped to 2-2.

It was a double whammy of sorts for the Knights as Mikael Corominas was wheeled out of the court with a fractured foot in the first quarter.

In other games, the Contact Solutions Flying Lemurs and the CTC BPO Panthers finally barged into the column.

Jason Bancale nailed 15 points and Jerard Dela Cerna added 14 as the Flying Lemurs pounded the SSI Research Now Warriors, 81-65, to snap out of their back-to-back losses, while Mark Louise Gelle churned out 14 points, five rebounds, and four steals to power the Panthers to a 48-31 thrashing of the Bombardier Grey Wolves.—
