Mabatid sues teacher for “ruining” her company
For allegedly ruining the good name of Pinoy Care Visa Center Inc. a public school teacher, who lodged a complaint before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)7, is facing a criminal complaint before the city prosecutor's office.
Mabolo Barangay Captain Prisca Niña Mabatid, CEO and President of Pinoy Care Visa, yesterday filed a libel complaint against Levi Cortes, 40.
The act of Cortes, she said, was allegedly maligning the name of her company which has been in existence for 18 years.
"Anyone can have an issue (referring to her personally), but not my company," Mabatid said, adding it was the first time that someone lodged a complaint.
Mabatid described that the act of filing a complaint before the NBI as politically motivated.
She, however, did not name names, citing several issues arose after she ran and got elected as barangay captain of Mabolo.
Mabatid said Pinoy Care Visa Center Inc. is a consultancy firm, not a recruitment agency, which needs a license from the Philippines Overseas and Employment Agencies (POEA).
What they do, she said, is help applicants in the documentations to have an immigrant and student visa in Canada, New Zealand and other foreign countries. They reportedly don’t process working visa.
She, however, said she has A-Max Philippines International Promotion Inc., which is POEA-licensed.
Cortes reportedly failed twice to pass the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), which is a major requirement for them to lodge his application to Canada. Taking IELTS examination is unlimited.
IELTS is a series of examinations to assess one’s English skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Cortes has sought for NBI’s help for him to get a refund of the visa processing fee since Pinoy Care failed to give him a Canadian visa.
Mabatid said they don’t do refunds because they have already rendered services to them.
Mabatid also threatened to file a breach of contract and damages against Cortes because the latter reportedly breached the Memorandum of Agreement between the company and Cortes.
She, however, said she will withdraw the libel complaint if Cortes will do a public apology.
"I am a forgiving person," she said, adding Cortes can still avail of their services and she will in fact personally help him in the documentation.
Taking action against Cortes, Mabatid said, is a warning to all who have plans to ruin her company which she had established and made known for 18 years already.
In fact, her company was awarded as the Hall of Famer last June 22 because of their consistency in topping in terms of visa.
Meanwhile, Mabatid said Pinoy Care will be rendering free facilitation of documentations of those who were indorsed by the barangay captains in Cebu City as part of her public service. —
