The Northern Samar media forum’s TAMBAYAN, in cooperation with the 43rd Infantry Battalion, has distributed school supplies, coconut seedlings and toilet bowls to the residents of Barangays Curry, Roxas, Paguite, and Somoroy in Lope de Vega town of Northern Samar.

This activity, dubbed as Abot-Serbisyo sa Baryo, is an outreach program initiated by the 803rd Infantry Brigade Press Corps thru media forum’s TAMBAYAN, in cooperation with the Northern Samar Police Provincial Office, the Lope de Vega Municipal Police Station, and 43rd IB.

Lieutenant Colonel Apollo Herrera, commander of the 43rd IB, said: “The unit will continuously perform its task to support and facilitate government and private agencies in the delivery of basic services to various areas, most likely to the conflict-affected barangays within its area of operation. The residents will be the one who will protect all of these projects and evaluate the transparency during implementation.”

Recipients of school materials were 80 school children in Curry, 69 in Paguite, 63 in Roxas and 28 in Somoroy— all aged between 3 and 12 years old. Members of the farmers’ associations received 2,000 coconut seedlings from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA). The Lope de Vega LGU donated 96 toilet bowls, which the media distributed to these four barangays.

This activity of the local media was a continuing effort in achieving progress and development in Northern Samar province. —
