Police eye two in Tecson murder

-

The police now have two persons of interest (POI) in the killing of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)7 agent Von Rian Tecson, said Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Director Manuel Abrugena.

Yesterday, the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) formed to look into Tecson’s case conducted their first case conference at CPPO.

“Initial natin ay may dalawa (persons of interest) na tayong tinitingnan,” said Abrugena.

Tecson, 41, was on his way home from a court hearing on board his black Ford Ranger together with driver, Arnulfo Bauyaban, 52, when ambushed by unidentified assailants just several meters away from his home in Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City last August 8.

Tecson, together with other former PDEA -7 personnel, was set to be transferred to PDEA-6 after the anti-drug office decided to have swapping of personnel effective since August 1.

He remained in Cebu due to the court hearing.

He added that they are still looking into his work as a drug buster as a possible motive of the ambush of Tecson, based on the statement of the victim’s older brother, Senior Police Officer 1 Von Tecson.

In previous reports, Tecson’s older brother, who is a police investigator of Carcar City Police Station, revealed that his brother received death threats from a big drug personality prior to the incident.

Abrugena said that they already had the identity of the drug personality which will be included in their investigation.

As to the two persons of interest, he said that they will invite them for questioning. The police may also visit their residence, if needed.

“If we cannot invite them ay pupuntahan natin sila,” Abrugena said.

As of this time, he said that they are now about 40 percent in their investigation.

The PDEA-7 has been closely coordinating with them in the probe.

It can be recalled that the parents of Tecson also sought help from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-7.

The dash camera of the vehicle of Tecson was handed over by the family to the NBI.

However, Abrugena said the victim’s brother has assured them that they will also submit the footage of the dash camera to the police to help the investigation.

“Ano man ang laman noon ay pag-aralan ng SITG at isa po ito sa pagsisimulan or paglalaanan ng gagawing investigation,” Abrugena added.
