Relics of St. Padre Pio on exhibit in SM malls

In commemorat­ion of the centenary appearance of the stigmata and 50th death anniversar­y of St. Padre Pio, SM Supermalls and Sto. Padre Pio Contemplat­ive Community of Cebu will hold an exhibit on The Life and Divine Gifts of Sto. Padre Pio in SM malls in Cebu.

St. Padre Pio was an Italian priest who was known for his piety and charity, as well as the gift of the stigmata, which has never been explained.

St. Padre Pio was born Francesco Forgione, on May 25, 1887, in Pietrelcin­a, Italy. His parents were peasant farmers. He had an older brother and three younger sisters, as well as two other siblings who died in infancy. As a child, he was very religious and by the age of five he reportedly made the decision to dedicate his life to God.

Relics, photos, and teachings of St. Padre Pio will be on display at the Mountain Wing Atrium (under Bridgeway) from August 31 to September 2. A Holy Mass will happen at 9AM at the Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod with Most Rev. Isabelo Abarquez, Bishop of Calbayog, as presider.

The exhibit will then travel to SM City Consolacio­n and will be displayed at the 2nd level hallway near the Foodcourt from September 8 and 9. A Holy Mass will also happen at 9AM at the 2nd level near the Cinema.

The exhibit’s last stop is at the Art Center, second level, of SM City Cebu from September 14 to 16. Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma will officiate the Holy Mass at 9AM on September 16, Sunday, at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu.

Inviting the Cebuanos to take part in the veneration of St. Padre Pio’s relics every after the 9AM Holy Mass during the exhibit period.
