Rody: I’m tired of listening to Sison

- —

MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte is tired not just of the corruption in government but also of listening to his professor turned fierce critic and rebel leader Jose Maria "Joma" Sison previously claimed that the chief executive is seriously ill.

Duterte said Sison, the founding chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines, seems to be waging his revolution by monitoring the sickness of other people.

"I am tired of listening to Maria Sison. Look at how degenerate he is. He no longer has an ideology. He keeps on monitoring the illness of other people," the president told reporters on Monday after the National Heroes Day rites at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

"If that is the way you are fighting the revolution, you are just monitoring who has died and who is sick," he added.

Last week, Sison claimed to have received reports that Duterte went into coma and cited observations that the president's supposedly darker face and shaking hands.

Sison made the claim days after Duterte had admitted he was already tired of corruption in government and he considered resigning because of the seemingly endless chase against erring officials.

Duterte has denied suffering from a serious illness but has admitted being in "perpetual pain" because of a motorcycle accident during his younger years. The president previously said he is experiencing back pains, daily migraines and Buerger's disease or inflammation of blood vessels tied to smoking.

Duterte has claimed that his face was darker because he likes to roam in the mountains. Presidential spokesman Harry Roque, meanwhile, explained Duterte's shaking hands by saying that the president was shaking with anger because of corrupt officials.

Duterte has tried to turn the tables on Sison, his former political science professor, by saying that the rebel leader is suffering from cancer. He has also described Sison as a "discredited leader" who is "talking nonsense."
