MCCI banking on strong ties with Mandaue LGU
The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is banking on its strong partnership with the local government to survive the tough global competition.
MCCI president Stanley Go enjoined members to support the Chamber’s programs and initiatives in working closely with the Mandaue City government as competition these days is no longer limited in the local marketplace, but has leveled up to the global arena.
Due to the intensifying competition, local players should all the more cling for government’s support and together, Mandaue businesses will be able to survive against global players.
Go mentioned the regular dialogue between MCCI and Mandaue City executives led by Mayor Luigi Quisumbing as the start of the private sector’s collaboration with the LGU.
This and other projects, including future programs are seen to fortify the local industries operating within the city in their ability to survive under the new business environment.
Go made this call as MCCI celebrates the Mandaue Business Month 2018 bannering the theme “Breaking Boundaries. Defying Limits”, reminding members to be active in the chamber’s effort to forge stronger tie-up with government.
Go reiterated that although MCCI has been partnering with the City for a long time now it is empirical that it will tighten their connection as every move of the government, no matter how trivial, has great effect to business.
This time, he said the government and the private sector should become a strong ally to be able to compete in the world. The borderless economy, if not taken into serious consideration could eat local SMEs "alive".
Quisumbing on the other hand re-committed to hear the private sector’s voice on a regular basis, saying his administration also needs the business sector’s help.
“Continue to tell us [in the government] how to do our job,” Quisumbing told MCCI member during the recently concluded Business Summit held at the Oakridge Business Park.
