Woman sells daughter, sister to foreigners online

-

A 25-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly letting her 4-year-old daughter and 15-year-old sister engage in sexual activities online targeting foreigners as customers.

The girls were rescued by the operatives of the Women and Children and Protection Center – Visayas Field Unit in an operation on Tuesday morning in Minglanilla town.

Police Senior Superintendent Romeo Perigo, WCPC chief, said that suspect Jean (real name withheld) offered her 4-year-old daughter to a police decoy for online sexual activity in exchange for P5,000.

Perigo added that a concerned citizen went to their office a month ago to inform them of Jean’s human trafficking activities.

The police conducted surveillance and eventually launched an entrapment operation.

The suspect allegedly uses a cellphone to engage her minor victims in online sexual activities targeting foreigners as customers.

The police recovered the cellphone of the suspect and will be subjected to a forensic examination at the Crime Laboratory.

Perigo said that based on their investigation, the suspect is not yet long in her cybersex activities.

“Today, the suspect of OSEC used a different name to hide her identity and cover her criminal activity. But the police still managed to catch her for abusing children. We appeal to other people committing the same offense to stop this illegal activity. If you continue, the police will find you and put you in jail,” said Perigo.

The operation was in cooperation with the International Justice Mission (IJM), Department of Social Welfare and Developmet (DSWD) and Cebu Provincial Police Office.

The two rescued minors are now under the custody of DSWD and will undergo psychosocial interventions while the suspect is detained in Minglanilla Police station pending filing of charges for the violation of Republic Act (RA) 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act as amended by RA 10364, and RA 9775 or the Anti-Child Pornography Act in relation to RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
