P500T at stake in DSOS footrace

Over half a million pesos in cash prize is at stake for the winners of the Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr. Half Marathon on September 9 starting at the Sergio Osmeña Sr. marker along Osmeña Boulevard and ending at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The annual race features the 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K distances. The 21K is open to local and foreign runners, while the 10K has 3039, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-above age groups. The 5K is for 13 to 18 years old, while the 3K (12-under) is exclusive for Cebu City grassroots athletes only.

“Our purpose is to encourage Cebuanos to engage in sporting events like running and athletics,” said Cebu City Sports Commission­ers Allan Delantar in a press conference at the CCSC office yesterday.

Proceeds of the event will go to CCSC’s grassroots sports developmen­t program.

The champion in the 21K open will pocket P20,000, while top finishers in the 10K and 5K will receive P5,000 each. The 3K winner will get P3, 000.

A P10,000 bonus will be given to the participat­ing public school with the biggest delegation.

Registrati­on fee is pegged at P300 for 5K, P400 for 10K, and P500 for 21K inclusive of singlet and race bib. Entry forms are available at the CCSC office located inside the sports center.
