On what the president said about Tomas

-

For my Special Presentation on our talkshow on Straight from the Sky, we bring you once again that rare presentation we had about brand new Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2. This was a project that we designed for MCIA since the late ‘90s but finally this became a reality three years ago when the GMR-Megawide Consortium won its 25-year bid blessing of the new Airport Terminal 2 which is now open and in use for international flights to and from Cebu.

Actually MyTV Channel 30 came up with a short documentary of our first visit during the construction of Terminal 2. Its roof line was quite remarkable as it is made of wood and as we inspected the terminal, the GMR-Megawide officials didn't show that they were scrimping on things. We are reshowing this for many people who have not seen that special presentation we did for GMR-Megawide.

With me tonight is Mr. Andrew Harrison whom many of us in Cebu media have fondly called Cebu's foremost tourism advocate. Indeed, Mr. Harrison is not just a simple airport manager; he is a man of all seasons. So watch this interesting discussion tonight on SkyCable's channel 53 at 8 p.m. with replays on Wednesday and Saturday same time and channel. We also have replays on MyTV's channel 30 at 9 p.m. Monday and at 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday.

First of all, allow me to express my family's condolences to the family of the late governor Vicente “Tingting” dela Cerna who passed away last Saturday, 12 days short of his 67th birthday. I remember bumping into him in Ayala a year ago, but he looked very healthy. But we learned that he got cancer and went into chemotherapy. He was Cebu governor from 1992 to 1995. Although we knew that he was from Butuan City, we knew Tingting from way back when because Cebu City was a small place where everybody knew everybody. May we request the pious reader to please pray for the repose of his soul.

Also today is the birth anniversary of a dear friend who passed away last year, Sir Robert “Bobby” Aboitiz would have been 69 today. But God had other plans and took him at the height of his career. He is still sadly missed. So to our faithful readers, please take a moment to pray for Sir Bobby Aboitiz. May he rest in peace.
