Accenture gets back on winning track
The Accenture Sharks recovered quickly from their first setback of the season and vented their ire on the skidding TelstraTeletech Boomerangs, 85-64, in the Elite Classic of Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 14 over the weekend at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Leading by only two, 20-18, after the first 10 minutes of play, the Sharks used a crippling 48-29 run in the middle quarters to pulverize the Boomerangs.
Sherwin Resilla had 14 points, while Ryan Veloso and Jetro Gonzaga each scored 10 as Accenture regained the overall lead with a 7-1 winloss slate.
Jaggy Vios tallied 22 points and Darryl Yap had 15 for the Boomerangs, who stayed winless in nine games.
In the EVO League, the Kyocera Frontiers, Dynnino Jets and Shearwater Health Crusaders bested separate foes in contrasting fashion.
Ariel Ramonito Edera scattered 20 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals as the Frontiers pounded the Author Solutions Philippines Inc. (ASPI) Hardbacks, 76-41, to raise their record to 5-1.
Francis Mateo notched 16 points spiked with four rebounds, four assists and two steals as the Jets shackled the Bombardier Grey Wolves, 72-56, for their third victory in four starts, while Lucien Paolo Lumapas pumped in 22 points and 15 rebounds as the Health Crusaders overcame the CTC-BPO Panthers, 6158, for their only second win in six starts.
