Dipolog-based restaurateur opens Italian resto in Cebu
The dynamic restaurant business in Cebu has prompted a Dipolog-based restaurateur to open an outlet here.
Italian restaurateur Giovanni Galli, who has been successfully operating his UrChoice Bistro Cafe in Dipolog for 11 years, recently converted a two-storey old house into a restaurant along Avelino Morales Street, Kamputhaw, Cebu City.
Together with Cebuano partners, Galli believes Cebu’s booming tourism industry and rising number of middle class provide more rooms for restaurant business to thrive despite the growing competition.
Galli admitted though that participating Cebu’s already mature restaurant industry would mean a different kind of battle, but expressed optimism the business complements the dining diversity in Cebu.
“Expanding here would give diners more options to choose on where to dine out,” said Galli in an interview.
The unrivalled UrChoice Bistro Cafe in Dipolog, offers authentic home cooked Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.
While it promises to serve authenticity, Galli said his kitchen has mastered in blending Pinoy’s tastes in the Italian and Mediterranean dishes.
Galli has been residing in the Philippines, for 30 years now. “I am falling in love with the country and the people.
Opening a restaurant is also his way of sharing the true Italian cuisine to Filipinos, aside from making a living.
“In Italy, cooking is a way of life. Eating for us is a ritual and a big deal,” said Galli, this is what he wants to impart to Filipino diners, as well as tourists.
